              Job description

              As Postdoc you will join the solid-state NMR group led by Prof. Marc Baldus. The group is part of the Bijvoet Centre for Biomolecular Research whose mission is to advance our understanding of life at the most detailed molecular level by using cutting-edge structural and analytical methods in combination with state-of-the-art molecular biology, biochemistry, chemical biology as well as biophysical and computational methods. During your research you will contribute to the development and application of high-sensitivity/resolution solid-state NMR methods for in-situ applications. Such studies range from bacterial and fungal cells to human cells grown as 2D or 3D cell cultures. The Baldus group actively collaborates with other research groups in the Departments of Chemistry and Biology at the Utrecht University's Faculty of Science, a renowned, world class centre of excellence and innovation in both research and education.


              We are looking for an ambitious and creative scientist who is interested in working at the interface of NMR spectroscopy, biophysics and cellular structural biology. You enjoy being part of an interdisciplinary and international team of scientists, and meet multiple if not all of the following criteria:

              a PhD in chemistry, physics or biology and solid expertise in NMR;

              a general interest in NMR methodology and/or biochemistry and cell biology;

              team working skills in an international scientific environment;

              excellent communication skills in English, both oral and written.


              We offer:

              a position (1.0 FTE) for 2 years, with possibility to extend by 1 year upon positive evaluation;

              a full-time gross salary between 歐元3,226 and 歐元5,090 in scale 10 of the Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities (CAO);

              8% holiday bonus and 8.3% end-of-year bonus;

              a pension scheme, partially paid parental leave, and flexible employment conditions based on the Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities.
